Routine backups help smaller companies

In the backup-segment a new term works a circuit: “Continuous Data Protection” (CDP). Among them is to understand a new technology which registers and protects also the smallest changes at a file and therefore builds the basic for a continuous data security.
CDP-tools give small and middleclass companies the possibility to secure the client-files continuously.
“Continuous Data Protection” produces on the local system a copy of the used file within milliseconds and sends a further copy to a remote-server, as soon a connection is possible. Therefore the reconstruction of defective and deleted files is also possible from away. IBM developed such a tool for the Tivoli platform, other provider will follow shortly. Here are absolutely mentionable Atempo with the CDP-package “LiveBackup”, as well as the CDP-product “Panther” from Veritas/Symantec.

In the context of these news we would like to refer again to the urgency of a functioning and applied data security concept. In order to keep a a financial and substantial damage in the case of a breakdown (overvoltage, virus, hacker attack, internal data manipulation, housebreaking, etc) as small as possible, must be provide a backup dependend on the amount of data on a day-to-day-basis or maximal weekly-basis, with which one can backsecure a system in a relatively short time on a relatively status quo. In the age of the computer based data processing electronical data have won for companies appreciately and have to act with special caution.
